Our guys are hard at work in Tsawwassen on a big renovation for our clients - it will be a wide scale renovation and we are excited to see the results. Demolition has begun and we're grateful for the help of Maple Leaf Disposal www.mapleleafdisposal.com who have also been helping us with disposal and site toilets for our Surrey job. Erik has been busy excavating all week - because our crew also includes one full size excavator and one mini excavator, we can quote on your drainage issues and dig our own foundations which saves our clients money and time. We are also working on finalizing window orders for our big renovations in Fort Langley and Tsawwassen with Westeck Windows.

Erik & Lesa were out today at the Canadian Home Builders Education Forum today at the Ramada in Abbotsford - it was a great day and a fantastic opportunity to network with other builders and suppliers. We attended some great educational breakouts and learned a lot about changes in the industry. We loved the Contract Law session from Adnan Habib of Baker Newby LLP, and the roof ventilation session from Duraflo. We are honoured to be a member of the Canadian Home Builders Association and appreciate the great education and networking events they put on. If you are looking for a trade or builder in the area, the www.chba.ca home page shows a link where you can search for great contacts in your area.

Christmas is nearly upon us and if your household is anything like ours, it is on its way with lots of chocolate and yummy dinners! As a company and our family, it is important for us to give back in the community in which we live - with that in mind, we are proud to have sponsored or helped out with initiatives or programs at Deroche School & Community, Blessings in a Backpack, Salvation Army, Soowahlie First Nation, Leq'a:mel First Nation, Scowlitz First Nation, Sto:Lo Tribal Council, Chilliwack Ball Hockey team Lacey Developments (LOL), and neighbours and friends whenever we could. We are proud to announce a workshop we are hosting with Professor Tang Lee about Native Housing on March 9, 2011. This workshop will address the issues of why existing native housing deteriorate prematurely, and may be causing many of the health problems in native communities. Many examples of native housing throughout Western Canada are used to illustrate the problems and solutions in the design, construction and maintenance of these houses. Tang Lee has taught for over 30 years at The University of Calgary. He also teaches at Aurora College in the Northwest Territories, Mohawk College in Hamilton and a part-time plumbing instructor in Local 496. His views on native issues can be found regularly in Blackfoot Crossing Review. He participates in many first nations' workshops for bands throughout Western Canada including the Yukon and NT.
